I’ve just returned from spending a weekend away in Cambridge with my boyfriend and what a great weekend it was.
With the sun shining and lots planned for the day ahead we were eager to get going. Our first stop was Cambridge University Botanic Garden, a botanical Garden located just outside the city centre. We strolled around the gardens taking in the beautiful sites and various plants from all over the world.
We then headed back into town where we got lost down cobbled lanes and stumbled across Harriet’s Cafe Tearooms, a cafe with an old-fashioned feel and pianist playing romantic music. We had brunch and I was treated to a box of Harriet’s famous macarons to take away. Yum!
Next up was a punting tour along the River Cam. Our chauffeur shared his knowledge and insights, while we glided past buildings and ornate bridges, steeped in history and heritage.
Afterwards we went to check in at Rectory Farm a georgian home with gorgeous gardens and luxurious accommodation. We finished off the afternoon by soaking up the last of the sun around the pool.
Once I was showered and changed, I was taken to La Mimosa an Italian restaurant that overlooks the River Cam. With beautiful scenery, delicious food and my love sitting in front of me I couldn’t have been happier.
We took one last walk down the river hand in hand, appreciating the lovely day we had making memories.
“The day I met you my life changed, the way you make me feel is hard to explain. You make me smile in a special kind of way, you make me fall deeper in love everyday.”
